Déjà vu all over again

Oh, the sunshine we've had here in Chatty has been such a break from the dreary rainy winter. Very soon, I'll be able to leave open the doors and windows, clean the porch, spruce up the flower beds, and enjoy the newness and freshness of Spring! Yesterday, I noticed those rays of sunshine were also revealing the need for some deep cleaning inside. Now you know this preaches, right?

Let me explain where I am going with this...

I started studying 2 Samuel at the start of 2019, but the last month I’ve been ill and was in the middle of preparing for a retreat where I recently spoke. So, I put my study of 2 Samuel on hold. But, this week I picked it back up. Oh my goodness...déjà vu all over again!

Several years back, the Lord had me in chapters 11 and 12 of 2 Samuel and Psalm 51. So, can you guess what chapters my study of 2 Samuel took me to this week? 2 Samuel 11 and 12. Years ago, during those winter months, I sat studying and pondering just these chapters (and Psalm 51) while God did major heart surgery on me. It hurt so good!

You see, during those long winter months, God took me through a process where He opened, exposed, and cleaned my heart. I was ready by Spring but it had taken months of work on my part as I allowed God, through His Word, to pull out roots that had grown deep, do lots of weeding, pruning, raking up much debris, scrubbing in all those corners, and on I could go.

He not only took me through the process but allowed me to write out the process and then share it at a women's retreat that very same Spring!

So, this morning I pulled up what I'd shared and reviewed it. You know what? My heart needs some Spring cleaning.

Maybe this is a great time for you to take a few weeks or months to sit with the Lord and allow Him to do some Spring cleaning in your heart too. If so, maybe you'll find this helpful. Take your time, work through it slowly...maybe a little each day until what God plants and blooms in your own heart takes your breath away.

Be blessed, encouraged and strengthened.
