Sanctifi-what?

Sanctification is a word you don’t hear much anymore. But, it is a very important and powerful word because God, in His Word says that without it (sanctification), we will not see Him (Hebrews 12:14).

Uh, that’s a pretty strong and thus serious statement. So, why don’t we talk more about sanctification? a/k/a holiness? I mean, really? If we don’t see God without “it” then shouldn’t we be talking about “it” a lot? What does sanctification look like? How we get it sanctification? My goodness, shouldn’t we make sure we each understand sanctification?

Well, I think so. Because understanding this important and beautiful truth changed my life and continues to change me, I dedicated several chapters in my book “Self-Talk” to the subject of sanctification (a/k/a holiness). It’s also why I love this quote by Jen Wilkin because the bottom line of sanctification really is increasing dependence...on Jesus, His Word, the Holy Spirit. Increasing dependence is a process and sometimes it’s a difficult one. This is why I think maybe we stop talking about sanctification...an increasing dependence on Jesus...and revert to autonomy.
