Post Shingles

This is our view this morning after a snowy and windy yesterday. It was a delightful day because I love snow. Of course, I can say that because I didn’t have to be out in it. Looking north this morning, it was so pretty seeing the trees still coated in ice and the rooftops covered in snow with downtown Tulsa off in the distance.

Next is my chair! When planning this east facing space, I had visions of me sitting here doing Bible study, praying and watching the sunrise. Over the last month, I have spent many sleepless, pain filled nights in this chair. Unfortunately, I haven’t opened my Bible in a month. Shingles pain has robbed me of my ability to focus/concentrate. Nonetheless, I did spend countless hours sitting here talking to God about myself and others, contemplating His Word hidden in my heart and just sitting in silence with my Savior.

Not too many days ago I stood at the windows facing north toward Tulsa and St. Francis hospital and saw a beautiful cross all lit in white lights. All those nights and I am just now seeing this? In that moment, I realized that as I sat in that chair night after long and painful nights that cross was always there just over my left shoulder. Oh, you know that preaches, right?

What a gift your prayers have been. Thank you, thank you. I am happy and grateful to share that my pain has turned to discomfort, and I’ve stayed down and for the most part asleep through the night. I even got my Bible out and am hopeful that I’ll sit in my chair tomorrow morning with my Bible open and pens ready!
