Shut my mouth!
It’s a noisy world. Unfiltered words/opinions. Or worse, maybe purposeful/demeaning words. I like to read my news every morning but these days my news feed has turned more into a prayer list. Seems everyone throws out the F-bomb, trash talks, and cancels anyone who disagrees. Self control in speech, no longer a virtue. Everyone has their own truth which means by definition there is no truth. I read this morning someone calling themselves a “modern American Christian.” What does that even mean?
It’s easy to get caught up in the drama around us. Especially when all the above becomes the norm. You know, everyone does it. But God, in His Word has much to say about our speech/words. His ancient Words apply to our modern times. So, this Psalm is a great prayer for us … for me so we/I don’t have/get loose lips. As the old World War II slogan says: “Loose lips sink ship.” Let’s don’t let our mouths take us down. O Lord…
“Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” Psalm 141:3
