!!!#@&
Profanity has become so normalized that the word profanity itself now feels archaic. What was once considered foul or vulgar is now woven into everyday conversation, commercials, and even PG-13 movies—language we once protected young ears from hearing.
The casual use of the “F” word especially saddens me. There was a time when it was clearly recognized as degrading. Today, it’s shrugged off as normal. Scripture calls this what it is: calling evil good and good evil (cf. Isaiah 5:20).
This isn’t just my opinion—it’s rooted in God’s Word. The world will act like the world, but as Christians we are called to a higher, godly standard, and to resist normalizing what God calls sin.
God cares about our words:
Ephesians 4:29 — no unwholesome speech
Literally: “rotten, decayed” speechColossians 3:8 — put away abusive speech
Shameful, obscene, degrading talkEphesians 5:4 — no filthiness or coarse joking
Vulgar or morally improper joking
May our speech give grace, not decay—and reflect holiness, not culture. Amen?
