Wrath

Wrath

No, I’m not talking about winter’s wrath…although it’s a beautiful snowy day here.

I’m also loving my mornings with The Bible Recap. I chose the app version, which actually reads the Scripture aloud while I follow along. Captivating.

And can we just say it?

Whoever says the Bible is boring clearly hasn’t read it.

Honestly, in places it reads like a modern reality show or binge-worthy TV series — and definitely R-rated (not for language). There’s murder. Deception. Sibling rivalry. Rape. Incest. Homosexuality. Idol worship. Multiple wives. Jealousy. Blended families. Women on the side. And yes… sex. Oh boy, is there ever.

There’s horror too — because Satan and his fallen angels roam the earth looking for people to destroy. That’s real, y’all. There’s terror, fear, and war.

But God.

Smack dab in the middle of what looks like total chaos, God shows up. He calls the most unlikely people to be His own. He pours out favor, grace, and mercy on people who don’t get it — or are painfully slow to get it.

It’s easy to read their stories and think, I’d be different. HA.

This week has reminded me just how much we need saving — and I haven’t even finished Genesis. God was long-suffering then, and He is long-suffering now, because humanity hasn’t changed.

Our world today is still filled with murder, deception, sibling rivalry, sexual brokenness, jealousy, idol worship, blended families, war, fear, and spiritual darkness. Satan is still roaming. Sin is still real.

But God.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” Romans 5:8–10

So what is the wrath of God?

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

And what is sin?

Sin is any failure — in thought, desire, word, or action — to live in obedience to God’s will and character, resulting in separation from Him.

Don’t take my word for it.

Read your Bible.
