Snake in the grass!

Snake in the grass!

Last night we went to the Tulsa Zoo to see the hundreds of animal lanterns! It was beautiful but pictures never capture just how beautiful!

This morning while looking back, I spotted something I didn’t see when snapping this picture. I was so focused on the elephants that I didn’t see the snake.

You know that preaches, right?

I mean I should have noticed it. After all it was huge and it looked ready to strike. While it was clearly in my frame, it was not in my view—until I looked back at the picture.

We don’t always spot a “snake in the grass” until after it’s gotten its fangs into us but after that we remain on high alert. Or do we?

May we be shrewd or wise (discerning, prudent, and alert—not gullible) while remaining innocent (pure, and Christlike in our motives and actions).

Matthew 10:16 (NIV)
“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”
