The Petoskey Stone & Me

While traveling in Michigan, we spent a few days discovering Petoskey and beyond! Between the quaint towns, shops, lakes, bays, lighthouses, and parks, there is so much to see and do. As we wandered through the towns and shops, we kept noticing that almost all the shops sold these beautiful stones. Some shops even carried jewelry made from these stones. Deciding a Petoskey stone would be a wonderful keepsake from our trip, I set out to find one in the shape of a heart. Finding one that had been polished and shaped into a heart, I purchased it!

The salesperson explained that the best place to find these stones was at a nearby park. But, she warned they are not easy to find because their beauty isn't revealed until they are wet and then polished. You see, if lying along the shoreline and dry these rocks look like any other rock. The recommendation was to take a spray bottle of water with us to help us find and identify Petoskey stones. See the picture below.

Fascinating and come one now...you know it preaches. Well, at least it did to me.

I'm like one of those dry rocks! Until my Father in Heaven, who created me, sprayed me with His grace revealing my unique beauty in Christ. Now, He uses each moment of my life (good, bad, ugly) to polish me and make me so shiny that His reflection will be seen by all.

Oh my...so many Scriptures come to mind right now about how God through His Spirit and His Word is polishing me, shaping me, refining me.... What Scriptures are coming to your mind?
